HealthCamp Oregon Coming October 22nd
HealthCamp Oregon is coming!
HealthCamp Oregon will be a day of discussion on the future of healthcare, happening on October 22nd, 2011. It will be the culmination of 3 terrific days of events examining health, our healthcare system, and the possibilities presented by transforming it.
HealthCamp Oregon 2011 is scheduled to take place in Portland on Saturday October 22nd. Our friends at Urban Airship have generously donated facilities to host the event. As one of the leading mobile application developers around, this helps to set up HealthCamp Oregon for an incredibly exciting, informative and engaging day! Portland is no stranger to un-conference events like BarCamp, WordCamp and the others, and this is the very first HealthCamp event to happen in Oregon. It joins more than 30 other HealthCamps that have taken place across the world, all with support from the HealthCamp Foundation, Kaiser Permanante and others.
What’s more, the Social Media Club of Portland and the Software Association of Oregon are planning to announce an event on on October 20th which will examine the impact of social media on healthcare. More details are forthcoming! Oregon has a great deal of people and companies doing terrifically innovative stuff, so we’re ecited to partner with both organizations to.
In stroke of semi-planned serendipity, Kaiser Northwest is hosting their 21st annual Saward Lecture on Friday, October 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Newmark Theatre in downtown Portland. Tickets are free, but must be reserved in advance. Details are located on the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research website. You just need to provide your name, address, phone number, and the number of tickets you are requesting. Please keep in mind that requests often exceed the theater’s seating capacity,so if your plans change, they ask that you return your tickets so that someone else can use them.
The Saward Lecture, now in its 21st year, is named after Ernie Saward, MD, the founder of the Portland’s Center for Health Research, and the first medical director of Kaiser Permanente Northwest. This year, Kaiser is proud to welcome Siddhartha Mukherjee, MD, oncologist and author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer.
